David's Battles with the Philistines and the Valor of His Men

21
Chapter 21
15 There was again war between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his servants, and they fought the Philistines, and David grew weary. 16 Ishbi-benob, who was among the children of the Rephaim—the weight of his spear was three hundred shekels of bronze, and he was girded with a new sword—said he would strike David. 17 Abishai son of Zeruiah helped him, struck the Philistine, and caused him to die. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, "You shall not go out with us anymore to battle, and you shall not quench the lamp of Israel." 18 After this, there was war at Gob with the Philistines. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck Saph, who was among the children of the Rephaim. 19 There was still war at Gob with the Philistines. Elhanan son of Jaare-oregim the Bethlehemite struck down Goliath the Gittite, and the shaft of his spear was like a weaver's beam. 20 There was again war at Gath. There was a man of great stature, and he had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was descended from Rapha. 21 He taunted Israel, and Jonathan son of Shimea the brother of David struck him down. 22 These four God bore to the Rapha in Gath, and they fell in the hand of David and in the hand of his servants.
